Studies show that spanking, yelling, and threatening are all ineffective parenting tools — causing more resistance in your children. So what do we do? How do we regulate our children’s behavior? How do we discipline today’s kids? In this episode, I talk all about discipline — what it means, what it doesn’t mean, and how to discipline children so that you create cooperative kids who actually care about other’s feelings and the consequences of their behaviors.

Three main points to take away from this episode:

  1. Discipline means to teach.
  2. Kids will mimic what you do and say, including your bad behavior.
  3. Shame and blame to not lead to learning.

Hunter Clarke-Fields is a mindfulness mentor, host of the Mindful Mama podcast, creator of the Mindful Parenting course, and author of the upcoming book, Raising Good Humans. She helps smart, thoughtful moms bring more calm into their daily lives and cooperation in their families. Hunter has over twenty years of experience in meditation and yoga practices and has taught mindfulness to thousands worldwide. She is the mother of two active daughters, who challenge her every day to hone her craft!
