Are you breathing well? Is your child? My guest today is James Nestor, author of “Breath,” which explores how the human species has lost the ability to breathe properly over the past several hundred thousand years and is now suffering from a laundry list of maladies — snoring, sleep apnea, asthma, autoimmune disease — because of it.

Takeaways:

1.  Our faces, mouths, and airways have shrunk over the last 500 years.

2.  ADHD can be helped by fixing sleep breathing issues.

3. Changing the way we breathe can transform health.

James Nestor’s is author of Breath: the Science of a Lost Art. He is also the author of DEEP: Freediving, Renegade Science, and What The Ocean Tells Us about Ourselves and has written for numerous publications including The New York Times. Nestor has appeared on dozens of national television shows, including ABC’s Nightline and CBS’s Morning News, and on NPR. He lives and breathes in San Francisco. Visit James online here.
