Since we’ve had the big coming out of Caitlyn Jenner, have you had questions about transgender people?

I have, and in this intimate conversation with Jacoby Ballard, I get to ask some of them.

Jacoby is a yoga and Buddhism teacher known for his playfulness, heart-opening, and commitment to change from the inside out.

Jacoby wants to apply the teachings of yoga for the liberation of all beings, inside and out.  This means being in solidarity with those not often encountered in the yoga classroom: dis/abled people, those with abundant bodies, people of color, undocumented immigrants, queer, trans, and gender non-conforming people, and low-income people.

This is a conversation that’s all about truth and understanding. And this is what Jacoby has to say on that subject:

Satya is translated as truth, or honesty.

Satya involves living a life of integrity, where we strive to have no dirty secrets, where there is no part of ourselves that we are not in relationship with. This is a profound practice, to not even tell the smallest lie-to ourselves nor anyone else. It is important to note, that the first Yama is Ahimsa. So first, be harmless and kind, then, embody and speak the truth.

What is your takeaway from this conversation? Has it opened you up a bit towards understanding trans individuals? I hope so. It did for me. Start the conversation in the comments below.

Don’t forget to go over and support our sponsor, Present Mama Community, where you can get ongoing assistance and tools to become the mama you want to be.

Thank you so much for listening and reading! I really appreciate your support.
